Our model is based on the simple teaching of our Cree and Metis Heritage: Nothing Made without Purpose. In Heritage Michif, oochihtow tootum translates to made purposely/intentional.
We base our concepts and designs from the heart work of our relatives, ooshtaa – to make: to create with that good spirit inspired by the hand weaved blankets & the beaded and sewn moccasins our grandmothers made for us.
We believe in the Indigenous innovation of our relatives who were the artists and original entrepreneurs of our lands; for survival and to continue the self-determination of our nations. We recognize the protection of the identities of our people are important, we hope to combat misuse of cultural representation and avoid appropriation. This is our purpose as BuffaloHyde Creative to provide authentic graphic and video art services to combine tradition and technology to meet our community’s needs.
